On September 16, 2026, QS Quacquarelli Symonds, the international higher education research organization, officially released the 2027 QS Global Full-Time MBA Rankings and Business Masters Rankings.

This year's rankings cover more than 420 top-tier MBA programs across 65 countries and regions, as well as over 1,130 popular business master's programs, spanning five major disciplines: Management, Finance, Marketing, Business Analytics, and Supply Chain Management.

Here is a quick rundown of the key highlights of this year's rankings

Full-Time MBA Rankings

The biggest change at the top of the 2027 list: MIT Sloan School of Management (MIT Sloan) ranks first globally for the first time, posting the best scores worldwide in both Employability and Thought Leadership.

Harvard Business School retains second place, Stanford Graduate School of Business rises to third, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania — last year's No. 1 — drops to fourth.

US institutions continue to dominate the upper echelons of the MBA rankings, sweeping the top four MBA programs globally. A total of 133 US programs made the list, accounting for 31.4% of all ranked programs, with 5 spots in the global top 10 and 11 in the top 20.

In Europe, Cambridge Judge Business School rises to fifth, becoming the highest-ranked European MBA program. Saïd Business School, University of Oxford climbs from joint 12th to seventh, INSEAD holds eighth, and London Business School ranks ninth.

Regional Highlights

United Kingdom: A total of 32 MBA programs made the list, with four in the global top 20 — Cambridge Judge (5th), Oxford Saïd (7th), London Business School (9th), and Imperial College (19th).

Europe: Beyond the UK and US, Spain has 18 programs on the list, France 12, and Germany 7. HEC Paris is the highest-ranked (6th), INSEAD 8th, IE Business School 11th, IESE Business School 16th, and SDA Bocconi School of Management 20th.

Asia: MBA programs from approximately 16 countries and regions in Asia made the list. NUS Business School remains No. 1 in Asia, ranking 23rd globally. Korea University Business School tops the Korean rankings (11th in Asia), and the University of Macau ranks first in the Macao Special Administrative Region of China (29th in Asia).

Hong Kong SAR, China: HKUST ranks 45th, HKU 46th, CUHK 73rd, and City University of Hong Kong 86th. Several institutions have moved up compared with last year.

Performance of Chinese (Mainland) Institutions

A total of 12 business schools from China (Mainland) entered the 2027 QS Global Full-Time MBA Rankings, of which 4 ranked among the global top 100.

Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management ranks 29th globally, continuing to lead Mainland China.

CEIBS ranks 57th.

Guanghua School of Management, Peking University is tied for 80th.

Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University ranks 83rd.

The Business School of Hunan University makes its debut on the list this year, in the 301+ band along with the School of Business of East China University of Science and Technology and Shanghai University.

QS President Nunzio Quacquarelli commented:

"MBA programs in China (Mainland) are facing competitive pressure from global peers, particularly on the return on investment indicator. As students become increasingly focused on the value for money of tuition and excellent educational outcomes, institutions must be committed to serving students in even better ways."

Global Business Masters Rankings

In the specialized business master's rankings, more than 1,130 programs made the list this year, and competition is growing increasingly fierce. US institutions continue to lead, particularly in Business Analytics and Supply Chain Management.

HEC Paris once again retains the No. 1 spot in the global rankings for its Management, Finance, and Marketing master's programs.

MIT Sloan School of Management offers the world's leading Master's in Business Analytics program, with alumni employment outcomes and return on investment at world-class levels.

The global leader in Supply Chain Management master's programs is the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics, which succeeds the University of Michigan Ross School of Business — last year's No. 1 (the latter drops to third). MIT ranks best in the three dimensions of Employability, Alumni Outcomes, and Thought Leadership, with ROI ranked third globally; France's ESSEC Business School ranks second, tied for first in ROI and second in Employability.

The release of the 2027 rankings also sends a clear signal: global business education is evolving continuously. As the job market shifts, competition among institutions on indicators such as Employability and ROI will become even more intense. For students planning to study business abroad, getting an early grasp of ranking trends and clarifying their own positioning is the key to gaining an edge in the application process.
