Breaking news – the 2027 QS World University Rankings have just been released!

Ranking Methodology

The QS World University Rankings are based on a weighted index of the following indicators:

Ranking Highlights

China (Mainland)

Chinese mainland universities have made significant progress, with 52 institutions climbing the rankings and 13 making their debut. Among the 85 mainland Chinese universities ranked, 6 have broken into the global top 100. Peking University rose to 13th place worldwide, while Tsinghua University climbed three spots to 14th, further consolidating their leading positions among the world’s top academic institutions.

United States

A total of 184 U.S. institutions are featured this year (down slightly from 192 last year).

In terms of movement, roughly two‑thirds of U.S. schools saw their ranks decline, 38 remained unchanged, and only 22 improved.

Yale University and Johns Hopkins University successfully returned to the global top 20 this year. At the same time, the U.S. maintained its lead in total number of ranked institutions in both the top 50 and top 100 tiers.

United Kingdom

Thirty‑one UK universities rose in the rankings, with Imperial College London holding steady at second place globally for the third consecutive year. Five UK institutions achieved their highest‑ever rankings, while the total number of UK上榜 institutions increased from 90 in 2026 to 93 this year.
